Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Character Name: Jackson Ward
Archetype: The Quiet One
Age: 38
Birthday: March 22
Family: Robert Ward and Alison Montgomery (Parents)
Useful skills:
Finance - Jackson has a rare ability to know automatically what to do with his money which is one reason why he is so rich. He isn't afraid to invest it in big companies and only does a small amount so if it goes under he doesn't loose a lot of it. Most of the time it results in him at least doubling the amount of money that he put in.

Ability to win people over - Jackson has the ability to smooth talk people and get them on his side which can be quite helpful. This has made people a lot more willing to do what he wants them to do as they feel like they can trust him.

History: Robert Ward and Alison Montgomery were a typical couple for someone of their status. The two of them had grown up knowing each other from living in the same neighbourhood, their parents being villains in the same group etc. They were close friends from similar families so it was not at all surprising that the two of them fell in love and married. The two of them lived a rather normal life, neither of them worked but invested a lot of money in various companies that they had worked out will do well- and they did the majority of the time. When they didn't go as well as they liked they hadn't invested enough money to be seriously hurt.

For the first ten years of their marriage they continued to live their lives like they always had done. They were the perfect couple though they were yet to have a child. It was ten years into their marriage that they decided it was time to have a child to carry on their name. Nearly a year later Jackson was born to the two of them.

Neither parents wanted to give up their public and secret jobs as villains so they shifted Jackson off to various nannies over the years to raise him, make sure that he was educated the way that they wanted to him to be and so forth. They barely saw Jackson in the first five years of his life except to see how he was going at things. To make sure he was living up to their expectations. If he wasn't they had no qualms about punishing him in ways that could be considered harsh and cruel by other parents. They would beat him, lock him in his room for a few days without food and just generally make him regret not living up to their standards.

Jackson, for the first eleven years of his life was shifted from one nanny/governess to another, seeing his parents briefly each night but otherwise not interacting much with them. He knew this wasn't normal but he was used to it so he didn't mind. Truthfully when it came to the matter he was actually unsettled if he had to spend a lot of time around them. From the age of three when his parents first ordered him to begin lessons starting with basics of reading, writing and maths. At first he didn't like it and refused to work- that was the first time they punished him. As he was such a young age he threw a tantrum due to it and was punished further. He quickly learnt that was the wrong thing to do and soon he would do what they wanted him to do even if he didn't like it. Though of course at various stages he would protest.

Eventually he managed to get to the point that he would try his hardest but with his parents putting extremely unrealistic pressure on him from the very beginning he was still punished quite often. In fact he came to put this pressure on himself too - if he didn't succeed at something he would keep trying. By the time he had turned ten he was extremely advanced for someone his age, just because he didn't want to be seen as a failure.

This went on to be the basis of his life to the point he obsessed about it and would do anything to make sure it occurred.

When his parents sent him to the local primary school at the age of five - on top of his lessons that he undertook at home he didn't fit in at first as he was too scared of doing something wrong and therefore bringing down his parents wrath upon him. That was the last thing he wanted even at such a young age. The other students teased him about being so quiet and shy - which made his parents react when they heard about it. After a massive lecture from his parents and being locked in his room till the next morning he slowly started to come out of his shell though he didn't make any true friends. He refused to trust anyone with the way his parents treated him - he heard other children speak about theirs and knew his were different. It was in his first month at school that he learned that he shouldn't talk about how different his home life was – his parents paid off and threatened the teacher he talked to so they would 'forget' what he had told them. That was the last time he tried to reach out and trust someone. That was until he met Justice James nearly three decades later.

At school, Jackson always succeed at his school work and was put up a year so he had a slightly more of a challenge at his school work though he was still near the top of his class. This is the only time that Jackson remembers his parents admitting that they were proud of him. Something that lasted a total of five seconds – the length of time it took them to tell him that. This has gone to be one of his fondest memories and a deep desire for them to tell him that they were proud of him again, which unfortunately never happened again.

For the next seven years of his life, things continued much the same as they always had. His parents continued to teach him outside of school, moving onto financial planning and how to make his way in life. At the private school he attending that continued much the same as it always had. He had people who were 'friends' but in truth were just a means to an end, a way for him to look good in front of people. Of course his parents made sure the people he choose were from 'suitable' families – of the same allegiance as well as powerful and old families. It couldn't do for their son to be seen interacting with lesser people after all.

After graduating from the High School he managed to get a job as a financial advisor and while his parents didn't think it was a completely fitting job, he liked it and enjoyed it. Deciding to disobey them he stuck it out and hasn't regretted it at all ever since.

Personality: Jackson is a gentleman first and foremost which is the basis of his villain personality. Growing up he was instilled proper manners by his parents and that is what has formed the majority of his life. If his parents didn't think he was polite enough he would be punished by with holding food for a day or so. This means that it was at a very early age that he learned how to act properly in formal situations and it wasn't long before it went over to his real life. Of course he knows the danger of keeping his villain personality so close to his real life which means Jackson attempts not to be as completely proper in his day to day life than he is as The Gentleman.

The ingrained properness in Jackson's personality allows him to stay distant from everyone... well nearly everyone as there is a couple of people he allows close. He believes that allowing people to get too close to him is a weakness and he refuses to be weak. If he can control who gets close, who sees what of him then he is in control.

Not only does Jackson manipulate people that way but he has no problems with manipulating people into doing what he wants them to do. He can talk smoothly and win them over and then just use them for his own needs. He will make them think he is their best friend and then betray them without a second thought. He doesn't give his loyalty easily to people as he believes that it is a weakness and could be used against him. If you are one of the few people he is truly loyal to then it means that you are an exceptional person as it is something he does not give freely at all - in fact only a small handful of people truly have ever had his full loyalty.

In relation to this, Jackson is a very solitary person. He loves to spend time by himself and just think. He will often be found walking along the beach, sitting on a park bench just lost in his thoughts. He just truly doesn't enjoy being around people unless he has to. When it comes to spending time with one or two people it is a lot better than being in a large group too for that matter. Of course, he can spend time in a group as necessary, it just takes a lot of effort for him. Not that anyone could be able to guess this as he has mastered the act of acting like he enjoys it long ago.

Jackson will do anything to succeed which ties into his skills with money and his willingness to manipulate people as he sees fit. Growing up his parents were hard task masters and hated it when he failed at something as they were successful business people as well as renowned villains. They wanted him to be just like him. While Jackson is ambitious in his own right this teachings by his parents is mostly why he is so ambitious and if it hadn't made him able to get where he was today he would probably hate his parents for it. Except he doesn't as he is more than successful in his own right which makes him more accepting of his parents ways.

Jackson can also be a complete gentleman to people, keeping up the appearance even if he doesn't like the situation or the person he is talking to at that specific moment. He likes to make sure that people know who he is from just looking at him. It has taken many years for people to know him but now his reputation precedes him and it is something that he quite enjoys these days. He knows that he can install fear in people but at the same time he knows that his personalty, manners and demeanor can confuse people which is something he finds quite helpful a lot of the time. How better than to get people to trust them and then stab them in the back?
